The Building

 

Opening in school year 2026-2027, RiverTech at Goodwin University's permanent home will be at 4 Pent Road, East Hartford, CT behind Pathways Academy of Technology and Design and across the street from 3 Pent Road, Goodwin University's manufacturing facility. The building will feature a Business Hub, which will welcome local professional partners and an astronaut training center, which is being created as a part of a partnership with the Victorian Space Science Education Centre (VSSEC) in Melbourne, Victoria Australia and will include a space that mimics the surface of Mars. 

Small instructional spaces for speciality services like speech and language, social worker, psychologist, and special education will be provided. In addition, RiverTech will also include a library, theater, and gymnasium. There will also be a cafeteria that will also be used as a large meeting space for family education nights and exhibition events at which the students present their work to state-wide business partners.

Leadership from GUMSS and Special Guests Broke Ground on the First Technical Magnet School in Connecticut

On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 9 a.m., Goodwin University Magnet School System and distinguished guests hosted the RiverTech Groundbreaking, officially initiating construction on Connecticut's first technical magnet school. The Groundbreaking featured a ceremonial first dig featuring Superintendent, Dr. Sal Menzo, and members of the first RiverTech class. The program and dig took place at 3 Pent Road in East Hartford. Special guests included, Mayor of East Hartford, Connor Martin; President of Goodwin University, Mark Scheinberg; Bureau Chief at the Regional School Choice Office (RSCO), Shola Freeman; and several other local representatives.
